Australia’sSandfireResources(ASX:SFR)saidonWednesdayithadbeengrantedamininglicenceforitsMotheocopperprojectinBotswana’sKalahariCopperBelt.ThePerth-basedminersaidthemilestonewasoneofthetwomajorconditionsrequiredforfinalizingthefinalpermittingprocessfortheA$($m)millionproject.TheKalahariCopperBelt,whichextendsfornearly1,kmfromnortheastBotswanatowesternNamibia,isbelievedtobeoneoftheworld’semergingbutmostlyunder-exploredcopper-silverregionsintheworld.THE3.2MILLIONTONNESPERANNUMMOTHEOOPENPITMINECOULDHELPBOTSWANACURBITSDEPENDENCEONDIAMONDMININGThe3.2milliontonnesperannumopenpitminecouldhelpBotswanacurbitsdependenceondiamondmining,asectorthataccountsfor70%ofthenation’sexportrevenue.InitialsiteworksatMotheobeganearlierthisyear,withsterilizationdrilling,a15kmaccessroadandconstructionofa-personcampalreadywelladvanced.Sandfirewillnowbringadditionalstaffonsitetobeginconstructionoftheprocessplantandotherinfrastructure.The
